I rise to join the chorus of incredulity protesting the continued use of the term "saved" jobs by the Administration. You know what I mean--that the stimulus had "created or saved" 642000 jobs.
This is ridiculous. Almost every "saved" job that is ever talked about in these discussions is a teacher or cop (naturally--because it wouldn't pull at the heartstrings if it were clerks and trashmen), bandied about as if there were NO OTHER OPTIONS. "LORD (Obama) BE PRAISED! The stimulus gave us money and we don't have to fire these people." But what about other cuts in services? What about aid to "community organizers"?
There is so much mischief tied up in the use of a phrase like "saved" jobs...but I fear it is in the lexicon for the distance now.
I hope and pray that when Republicans are back in power, we don't use it too. But I wouldn't bet on it.

From the article:
"We're hoping that they do some aggressive investment next year, because it will do what the stimulus did this year. It will keep a terrible situation from getting worse."
And thus are born, "Stimulus Crack Babies."
