Dorgan To Retire

North Dakota Senator Byron Dorgan (D-ND) announced today that he is not going to stand for re-election in 2010. This is good news, as I would imagine he'd have a pretty easy time defending. Don't know if we have any North Dakota stalwarts who read the blog, but anyone with a sense of who the Republicans might nominate/how they might do is cordially invited to pipe up.

The rats are abandoning the ship but they got what they want so WTF.
Mark Steyn made a great point yesterday. When socialism takes hold you can never go back. Center right parties are reduced to a platform of "we can run the socialist state better than the socialists". The Tories in Britain are running on just such a platform at the moment.
As I see it most of their agenda (apart from the taxes) doesn't kick in until '13. That's our window. Get some people elected and get this thing repealed. Otherwise, if this thing gets going, you'll be campaigning against "the children" and "the working poor".
