If anyone doubts that, her latest ridiculous column is devoted to writing about all the mean Republican girls. Or as she describes them ' grown-up versions of those teenage tormentors who would steal your boyfriend, spray paint your locker and spread rumors that you were pregnant.'
Let's review: Christine O'Donnell-fighting to be taken seriously against an already established media storyline; Sharron Angle-please see previous description, and throw in grandmotherly; Linda McMahon-tough businesswoman calling out her opponent for lying about his Vietnam 'service'; Meg Whitman, who (unknowingly?) hired an illegal and heartlessly paid her 23 bucks an hour...they're all just so mean!
In Maureen's world, describing Republican women as mean and nasty somehow doesn't make Maureen mean and nasty.

Nothing to criticize about these women? They get a pass because they are anyone but democrats? Dowd is a hack.
The 3 week (or is it 2 weeks?) old Saturday Night Live poking fun at O'Donnell was repeated last night. I guess they had so much fun giving us Obama two years ago they wanted to see if they could make the magic happen again.
They love to equate people they don't like with stereotypes we're all familiar with. Then it's easy for a weak minded or emotional person to transfer their aggression and anger (yes I've read Freud). Dowd uses this trick repeatedly.
Remember when Rick Lazio was running against Hillary? During the debate he tried to get her to sign a commitment not to accept "soft" money in her campaign. Of course she wouldn't sign it because she got tons of Hollywood cash etc. But Dowd describe Lazio waving this agreement around as like when your hisband confronts you over the credit card bill. Taping in to the emotion of two completely unrelated events, one real one fictional.
Here's the thing, they are scared...SCARED TO DEATH! And these Jedi mind tricks only work on the weak minded and those predisposed to the bullshit people like Dowd are selling. It ain't gonna work this time sweety.
Two things:
1. Sally--welcome back. You've been missed!
2. Hammer--awesome analysis (or should I say psychoanalysis).
