Marion Barry is the ONLY person in DC right now that could beat Fenty in the next elections and Fenty has been 'middling' at best. A Barry/Fenty election would go to Barry in a landslide.
Anon - Good point. As would a Mother Theresa/Barry or Ghandi/Barry or, I'm stretching it a tad here but even a MLK/Barry race. This imbecile of a man seems to have tentacles into the hearts and minds of his voting public, the likes of which I am thoroughly incapable of understanding. He had such a great start in his life and he turned it into something worthy of federal disaster aid, yet his adoring, worshiping public will not budge on their undying support for him. I dare say he would even win, although it might be neck and neck, a God/Barry race. DC residents would be thoroughly justified in telling me it is none of my business how Marion Barry conducts himself as I am not a resident of DC. Although I might muster an argument that I have an interest as long as the District is also the capital of the nation in which I am a resident/citizen, I will also admit that as long as the majority of voters live in a paradigm that gives a man like Marion Barry even a fighting chance at a statistically significant count of the votes, I will remain a non-resident. Who am I kidding? If there are more than three cars at a four way stop here on the Eastern Shore, I complain about how traffic is getting worse. I'll never be a resident of DC.
