I had to stop here.
"Modest measures to alleviate poverty became schemes to lock the poor into "dependency."
How many trillions have we spent on these "modest measures" since the 60's, to no avail?
I had to stop at "by E.J. Dionne". I'd rather read something more in touch with reality such as Gary Larson's "The Far Side Collection."
