Big Fat Friday Free For All

Sorry gang, away from the official scale this morning (note to wags--the off the charts measurement taken last week was on an "unofficial scale". Hmph) so no update on my out of control rotundity.

So what's on your minds, people? Devastated that there was no radio program this week? Energized by the appearance of the cherry blossoms in our nation's capital? Excited that Bob Ehrlich has decided to mount a challenge to take his job as Maryland's Governor back? Wrestling with the horrific duality of hating Duke with a passion but hoping they win the NCAA tournament so that your league doesn't look as bad as it really was?

Lay it out there, friends.

Congressman Hank Johnson's belief that Guam might capsize isn't as scary as the fact that 99% of the people who voted for him have no clue as to who, what, or where Guam is and would also believe that an island could "tip over".

PACOM was a gentleman and showed great restraint.

I thought guam was one of those additives they put in ice cream to make it thicken.

I must unburden myself of this.

Mrs. Milnamo and I went to see Eric Clapton in concert a month ago. (Full disclosure, age of 51 and acknowledge EC as one of the guitar gods up on Mount Stratocaster, he may even be Zeus.) Roger Daltrey opened the night and was smokin'. He played some of his stuff, The Who stuff and other people's stuff and was brilliant (Pete Townshend's brother Simon was the guitarist in the band.)

EC came on and just bored the living crap out of me. He played a goodly amount of older Blues material to which I am thankful as I love Blues music as well as his take on some classics. The wheels started to come off during Bob Marley's classic, "I Shot the Sheriff". As Eric was the only guitarist in the band (no rythm guitarist) he of course performed double duty. During this classic, he launched into a bloviated guitar solo. It got to the point where I had to ask Mrs. Milnamo what song we were listening to as the solo just went on and on and on... His own classic Layla? He did that cheesy, slow, loung-lizard version - absolute crap. Did he perform "After Midnight"? No. And no to quite a bit of what he's known for.

Mrs. Milnamo and I walked out of the concert; it was boring. Reading the review two days later, I felt somewhat vindicated in the decision to leave. It didn't get any better after we left. No "Black Room" from the Cream Years...or anything from the Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and The Dominoes years. Not even Robert Johnson's "Crossroads". One big heaping, steaming pile is what it was.

So, Mrs. Milnamo and I may just be the first and only people to walk out of an Eric Clapton concert out of boredom. He put on a boring show - there I said it and I won't hand in my rock and roll membership card!

#1 Friday outrage: It seems the census is sending out two forms "to areas with low return rates". That's right, two forms for every household in what coincidentally turn outs to be districts that voted heavily for Obama. Do you think there's a possibility some will be voted twice?
#2 Friday outrage: It seems many of our young college educated citizens are unemployed (employment being defined as "I can't find the job I want at the hours I want at the pay I want"). Many have decided to take advantage of the Obama administration's relaxed rules for receiving food stamps (actually not stamps but a nice little credit card). Our young layabouts are not eating government cheese down by the river however. No, they're buying salads nicoise with lark's tongues and salmon mousse with white wine reduction. WTF? Our tax dollars going to support the culinary extravagances of lazy self-absorbed Obama Zombies. Great!

Fatty fatty two by four...can't fit through the mancave door...

Conswahoo shouldn't vist Guam anytime soon either, what with the potential he might affect the island's stability (not political).

I'm here all week.
